Mandatory face coverings from Friday, 24th July

The Government has announced that face coverings in England will be mandatory for people visiting retail premises from Friday, 24th July until further notice.

This applies to the FGC Pro Shop. Therefore, from Friday, all members and visitors (except under 11’s and those with certain medical conditions) must carry and wear an effective face covering that is securely fitted around the head when entering the Pro Shop, by law. Staff will be wearing face-coverings at all times when customers are present.

Please note that no exceptions can be made and that anyone not observing this rule will be not be served and subsequently reported to the club. Please ensure you carry a face covering with you at all times for your own use when needed, and remember that face coverings are intended for the safety benefit to others, not the wearer.

Tour news

Tiger returns!

Tiger Woods made his return to golf at The Memorial Tournament, playing at a Jack Nicklaus-designed course alongside Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka. That’s pretty cool!

Muirfield Village, better known as Jack’s Place, proved to be a brutal beast. 3-over was enough to make the cut and even-par enough for a share of 10th, with even the world’s best notching double and triple bogeys.

Jon Rahm became just the second Spaniard in history, behind Seve Ballesteros, to become World No.1 after a convincing victory in Ohio. Despite going +5 on Sunday’s back-nine, Rahm cruised to a three-stroke win.

Rahm’s final score of -9 will not jump off the page of PGA Tour winners, but numbers could never tell the story of just how much Jack’s Place demanded.
